Deep cleaning
Dental deep cleaning or scaling, is a specific procedure that corrects and treats gum and periodontics disease. Under local anesthesia, this cleaning is needed to remove any bacteria, tartar and debris that has collected under the gum line. Deep cleaning is performed in two office visits by removing the plaque and tartar from the surface of the teeth to the bottom of the root. The other part of deep cleaning is root planning in which the dentist will use a scaling tool to remove tartar. It is normal that after the deep cleaning your gums are very sensitive and bleed easily when you brush them, so you should follow the recommendations of your dentist, including brushing your teeth with a soft brush, avoiding hard foods and not smoking for a period of time to promote the healing of your gums.
Generally, no matter how good your oral hygiene is or how well you floss, there are always areas in the teeth that are difficult to reach with the toothbrush. For this reason, it is important to perform a dental cleaning twice a year to remove accumulated tartar from your teeth.
